In CT, it is perfectly legal for a cop to lie outright in order to get you to "cooperate", even if you are the victim. We learned this the hard way from the lawyer, whom we should have hired earlier and saved ourselves a world of stress. We wanted to sue the cop, since they had his abuse of us on tape, but the lawyer took all our money (well worth it, since we won the main case).
