take out government officials, not in some faraway land, but in our own

The Crazy Years? What Robert Heinlein called the latter 20th Century in
his future history, the time leading up to the Scudder Interregnum and
the Second American Revolution.
The CIA taking out government officials? Look at the war between the
CIA and the White House. Any bets on who will win?
I wish I could say this surprised me, but, no. Just one more in the
depressingly long list of entries in the Crazy Years files which, for
me, started in the early 80s when they started coming out with
‘designer glasses’ with the designer’s initials ETCHED INTO THE
LENSES!!! And yet some idiots actually thought this was a good idea.
What exactly is this in reference to? Just curious.

Since Bush Sr. is no longer the head of the CIA all bets are off. Don’t
get me wrong, I can’t stand the guy but he was a very smart spook.
