I don’t understand the point about Emmet Till. He needs to go back to the 1950’s in the South to make a point about racism? Hello? Anybody home? Ever hear of Amadou Diallo? Abner Luema(sp)? Charles McAullife? He’s the the kid who was killed when he went to Long Island to buy a car. Guess when white northern liberals kill a black man at least it isn’t RACIALLY motivated.
Why are you bugging me about it? Mike has his own comments section. Go complain there.
Yeah, but I don’t KNOW him. 8^)
Read it more carefully. I “went back all the way to the 1950s” because the Justice Department JUST reopened the case after 50 years and because of recently broadcast documentaries on 60 Minutes (about two weeks ago) and on PBS, AND because of the coincidence of finding that issue of Confidential.
Caring about the Till case doesn’t mean I don’t care about horrors committed by the New York City police under the Guliani Administration. Till is no less dead today than he was when he was killed a half century ago; the possibility that a couple of his murderers might be brought to justice after all this time is worthy of comment.

I read the book the mississippi trial, based on the kidnapping and murder of the 14 yr old negroe boy who was killed because he whistled at a white woman, I dont think that somethign like that should have happened even in the south, slavery has been gone along time ago,so the blacks should have the same rights, and be treated the same as anyone else no matter race.
