I think the line that might resonate with the religious right is Luke 6:41-42.
Elections in U.S. and Ukraine Equally Bad, says Putin – NEWS – MOSNEWS.COM
Russia has every reason to criticize the United States, President Vladimir Putin said at a Kremlin press conference.
“We’re also not too happy about what’s going on in the United States,” the Russian Information Agency Novosti quoted him as saying. “Do you think that the electoral system in the United States is without problems? Is it necessary to recall how the elections went this time and the previous time?”
The president also noted that OSCE observers described elections in the Ukraine and the United States in practically the same terms.
“They mentioned that not all voters were permitted into the polling stations, some were even intimidated; that candidates did not have equal access to the media,” Putin said.
The comments were made in response to criticism from the West about the struggling status of democracy in Russia.
Sigh. The only thing that’s worse than a guy who falls all over himself to criticise his country at every turn is one who grossly misapplies the Bible to do it.
On the bright side, I guess you don’t have a problem with people who Bible thump to make their political points, eh?
For the record, the election this past time went just fine, except for the fact that your guy lost. That’s not an example of election fraud or misbehavior. It just needs to be filed away in your, “Things I Need to Get Over” drawer.
The electronic voting machines that can’t be audited due to “proprietary” code constitutes malfeasance, at the very least. Fraud because we no longer have open elections that can be manually counted if there are questions. Fraud, because many experts in computer software have come forward and told how easy it would be to program the results one wanted, regardless of how the people voted. There are questions no one here is answering. And if all is on the up and up, whey were foreign observers barred from the polls? This was not a matter of “your man lost.” This is a matter about the integrity of our elections and whether we are a republic or a third world dictatorship.
Tim, I thought it was pretty clear that he was referring to ol’ Vlad, the former KGB director who managed, somehow, to rise to the “presidency” of one of the most corrupt nations this side of Mussolini’s Italy. (But his trains do run on time…)
Here, let me give you a hand with that plank. Must sting like the dickens!

I understand Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich said the same thing when he “won” by a 49%-47% margin. Of course, after the revote watched by outside observers came up 52%-44% against him…
I well remember when the Republicans put dioxin in Kerry’s Philly cheese steak sandwich. The savvy Kerry narrowly avoided death by cleverly asking for some unpoisoned swiss cheese.
Wow, Putin doesn’t like how we run elections, gosh, I suppose next the Indonesian government will critique our disaster preperations.
Well, in a local election, one party sued to prevent the counting of ballots that were inadvertently left out of the counting. The fact that these votes were from a county overwhelmingly against them had nothing to do with it, I guess….
*sigh*
When I’m wrong, I admit it.
My apologies to Glenn for my misinterpretation of the intention of his post. I misread you, Glenn. I’m sorry.
