Republicans committed vote fraud in their own internal election for House Majority Leader.
And people wonder why some folks think that Presidential elections got stolen? I mean, these are the leading Republicans in the country, and they can’t even manage their own elections, where everybody knows each other.
Unreal and just sad.
Well, unreal at least.

The leadership election was marked initially by confusion when it appeared that the number of ballots cast exceeded the number of eligible voters by one. It turned out that clerks had left Luis Fortuno, the resident commissioner of Puerto Rico, off their list. He is not allowed to vote on the House floor but does have voting rights in the GOP’s internal deliberations.
Not as much fun an explanation but it has the advantage of being real.
All things considered, that’s not much of an improvement.
It means they weren’t criminal, just incompetent and/or ignorant of their own rules. So instead of somebody casting extra votes, votes that were meant to be counted weren’t. Where have we heard that before…?
So instead of somebody casting extra votes, votes that were meant to be counted weren’t.
Errr, no. The correct number of votes were cast and counted. It just seemed like a mistake had been made. But Josh Marshal and crew assumed that something illegal had happened. So you’re correct, we HAVE heard all this before…
Ahh, you lied, Glenn. Just admit it and move on. Haven’t you learned by now?
Illegal, Bill? No. I said fraud. While that can often be taken to be illegal, I would think that in an internal vote such as that, there aren’t specific laws against that.
Lie, eclark? No. I was mistaken. I attributed to malice what was explainable by stupidity. I regret the error, and retract the fraud statement if it wasn’t clear from my earlier comment.
And as long as we’re looking for retractions, let’s see how many right-wing sites have retracted their statements that Cindy Sheehan broke the law by wearing a T-shirt with a slogan to the State of the Union address.
