As many times as I’ve watched Jaws and 2010 and abused others by putting Blue Thunder into the DVD player, the first thing that popped into my mind when I read about Roy Scheider’s passing last night was All That Jazz. A good film that’s overlooked all too often.
Great talent. He will be missed.
I watched my Special Edition of Blue Thunder to honor the man. It is my favorite action movie…
ever.
So there IS no abuse by putting in Blue Thunder!

As many times as I’ve watched Jaws and 2010 and abused others by putting Blue Thunder into the DVD player, the first thing that popped into my mind when I read about Roy Scheider’s passing last night was All That Jazz. A good film that’s overlooked all too often.
“All That Jazz” is a jaw-dropper, especially when you start realising just how cooly and even unsympathetically Fossey is looking at his own life; and how much we still like Joe Gideon despite it – mostly because of Schieder’s portrayal, i think.
(I went to “Blue Thunder” – originally, anyway – because it was a Dan O’Bannon [“Dark Star’, “Alien” and {regrettably} “Total Recall”] project, but Schieder’s great there, too. Of course, he’s got Malcolm McDowell as an antagonist, which always helps.)
That was exactly the first thought I had too– “All That Jazz” has been one I’ve watched over and over, and the whole death scene–the one you posted– was what came to me. Thanks for sharing it so we could watch in his honor. 🙂 Only later did I think, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat…”
