And yet, it’s the Christians who think they’re persecuted

The recent publicity of 8,000-plus threats to atheists on Fox News’ Facebook page by Christians is positive proof that not only are those making threats not patriotic Americans who support the 1st Amendment, but they also belie their assertion that they are good Christians.

  1. Reminds me of a running gag in Sprague deCamp’s novel Lest Darkness Fall, with a modern archaeologist thrown back in time to Gothic Rome constantly encountering members of various Christian sects, all of whom explain how terribly persecuted they are, with the Goths who rule Rome denying them their religious freedom.

“But,” says Martin Padway, “I thought the Goths allowed anyone to practice whatever religion they choose.”

Yes, everyone answers – and they won’t let those of us who have the true faith suppress all the heretics who don’t agree with us.
