The blond leading the blond

Notable Quotes – Yahoo! News: “‘Ours is much hotter because VINCENT PRICE is not as hot as me and ELISHA CUTHBERT.’

–PARIS HILTON comparing the remake of the horror film ‘House of Wax’ with the 1953 original, in the New York Post.”

I think the reasons Paris Hilton got hired for this film were A) to make people think Elisha Cuthbert was a great actress in comparison, and B) because there’s a real market for people who want to see Paris Hilton die a gruesome death.

  1. Good points. There’s also a good chance that they looked at the source material(s) and realized there was no way in hell they could go worse.

  2. I haven’t seen the movie yet (somewhat obviously, as it hasn’t officially opened), but from the previews I’ve seen on TV, it almost looks like the film shares only the title with Price’s film. The new film seems to have more in common with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Waxworks than the 1953 House of Wax.

As for who’s hotter, Paris Hilton or Vincent Price? In his prime, Price was far hotter than Paris Hilton could ever hope to be. I just hope Ms Hilton remembers her comment when she’s 40 and undergoing yet another round of plastic surgery in her vain attempt to stay young-looking.

When I saw advertisements for the film I didn’t think I wanted to see it at all, but the possibility of seeing Paris Hilton die in some interesting way really is an attraction that should not be minimized. I still think I’ll save my money.

  4. The movie looks better than I’d expected, since my expectation were quite low. I’m not going to bitch about how wrong it is to keep doing remakes of classic horror movies since HOUSE OF WAX was, in fact, a remake itself.

I’m guessing that I might enjoy it more than I did Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 16 words I never thought I’d be writing.

  5. Hey Glenn, thanks for all the hard work you did getting this back online.
