Call it a hunch, but I’ll bet they were keeping a very close eye on anybody who might be sneaking up on Mr. Cheney with a gun.

I guess if Republicans are really as venal and desperate to protect their guys as some Democrats are they will try to use the Clinton defense that the Secret Service, like some Praetorian guard, cannot be questioned.
I, for one, welcome their insight to the incident.
