  1. Ever notice how we only elect tall presidents? If anyone ever runs who is less than 6 feet tall the editorial cartoonists will draw him as though he was the 8th dwarf.

  2. Just out of curiosity, but did the reported heights of CEOs come from measurements that were taken or did they just go by what they were told? I ask because every time I read a Hollywood bio about some famous actor their given heights all seem exaggerated. Remember the early days of the Kidman/Cruise relationship? Every time they were photographed together they appeared to be the same height. In later photos, Kidman somehow magically grew 3 inches. I guess the idea is that since people expect stars to be tall (and will never meet them in real life) it’s okay to fake it a little. So I’m wondering if CEOs don’t fake their height as well. In my experience, you don’t really have to be tall to look tall. Good posture can make a world of difference in people’s perception of height. (So can lift shoes, as I’m sure Cruise knows.)

  3. I think it works both ways. This article was on the Sports Illustrated site. There is a paragraph that kind of implies that tall guys go for medium-sized or shorter women. Maybe it feeds our egos or something. I read the article and was humbled by the fact that the subject may have considered me beneath her notice – and I’m 6’4″.
