Much to my amazement…

Even more to my shock, I think this gives me a Bacon number of 3.
From whom, dare I ask?
I mean, really.
FCC Says It Was Flooded with Indecency Complaints Last Year
Movie & TV News @ IMDb.com – Studio Briefing
Although the Janet Jackson incident during the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 is largely blamed for touching off the current regulatory crackdown on broadcasting indecency, the FCC said Thursday that it had received 146,268 complaints about indecent material on radio and TV broadcasts well before then — during the last quarter of 2003. It received another half-million complaints about the Jackson breast-baring, it added.
Running out the clock on abortions
Suit accuses ‘center for women’ of abortion clinic pretense
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A Jefferson Parish anti-abortion activist pretends to run an abortion clinic while using fear and delays to keep women pregnant until an abortion would be illegal, according to a federal lawsuit filed Monday.
The lawsuit, filed by the pro-choice Center for Reproductive Rights, accuses William A. Graham of running the Causeway Center For Women as a sham meant only to keep women from using their right to an abortion.
The suit accuses Graham of pretending to set up appointments at bargain prices, but stringing women along until it is too late….
One plaintiff, Priscilla Cabrera, said she decided to get an abortion when she learned she was pregnant, and got Graham’s number from the telephone book under “Abortion Services,” according to a 46-page memorandum filed with the suit. She said Graham used an alias and told her he put women who want abortions in touch with private doctors who perform them for $125.
“Graham told Cabrera that, unlike the doctors he worked with, clinic doctors were unable to make it in the real world and that the clinics generally were unsafe. Graham told Cabrera that if an abortion was performed too early, it could be harmful to her health,” it said.
Her first call was December 26, 2003. Graham said he would set up an appointment Jan. 10, but did not call Cabrera back for weeks, even though she called him repeatedly, the suit said.
When he finally spoke to her, he said a later abortion would be better for her health, and he could arrange for an abortion up to the 30th week of pregnancy, according to the memorandum.
Louisiana law allows abortions only during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.
The suit said Cabrera ultimately realized Graham was misleading her and got an abortion Feb. 4.

I’m impressed. I would never have thought of something this sleazy.
And as Mary points out, it only works in a place where the locals are ignorant, proving that the should seem to be “too stupid to NOT breed”.

Yahoo! News – And, the Number One Reason to Read Books Is…
In a bid to lure men in Britain away from TV soccer games and into book shops, publisher Penguin Books will send out a sexy model to offer 1,000-pound ($1,837) prizes to males spotted reading a selected title.
At the same time, Penguin, a unit of Pearson Plc, released results of a poll in which 85 percent of women said a man could increase his chances of getting a date by talking about a favorite book.
By contrast, more than half the men polled said they believed that flattering a woman would suffice to impress her.

One of the things I do is manage Peter David’s website. In a recent post called What do you think the odds are… about expected responses during the Republican convention, we’ve had such charming posts in the comments as:
Ronnie has done more in his lifetime than some shit jew dem writing comic books & spewing his hate on a blog. Dont like our voting system then go somewhere else and see if you can shoot your fucking jew mouth off about a great prez. Who has done more for this country than some overweight fucking rich jewbag like yourself.
and
Go dip your head in your comics thats where it belongs and stop playing politics unless of course you plan to run for office??? no please we got enough overpaid jews in office as it is.
and
Maybe if Ronnie had been a rich fucking Dem jew then PAD would of have had more respect.
I asked Peter if he wanted me to remove the posts and/or the poster. “No,” he said, “leave them. I want everybody to see this person’s words.” He commented on the thread later, “My first impulse was just to delete his postings, but then I figured, the more he’s allowed to speak, the more he just hangs himself. When faced with blinding ignorance and hatred, it’s better to let it spew so it can be seen for what it is rather than try and smother it and thus give it even the slightest measure of credibility.”
I give him credit for having far more tolerance than me.
Bradbury vs. Fahrenheit 9/11
Rumor has it in places like NAMES & FACES (washingtonpost.com) that Ray Bradbury is ticked at Michael Moore for naming his new film the way he has. Trouble is, the only place I see anything about it is from a Swedish magazine, and the interview doesn’t sound like Ray at all. Can anybody provide confirmation who actually knows Ray and has spoken to him recently?
Should I worry…

Well, I guess they know their target market…

I mean, jeez– wouldn’t you hire in the US just to help boost employment numbers, which would make the president look better? 125 jobs ain’t much, but it couldn’t hurt.
